July 2018 // Book Haul & TBR

Hello All!

July was one chaotic whirlwind for me at my job. It was a good chaotic whirlwind, but it didn’t leave me much time to post. Fortunately,  I was still able to read a few things this month and plan some stuff for the weeks ahead.

Book Haul:

  • Lifel1k3 – Jay Kristoff (June Whimsify Box)
  • Loneliest Girl in the Universe – Lauren James
  • Nyxia (ARC) – Scott Reintgen (received through a trade)
  • Nyxia Unleashed – Scott Reintgen
  • City of Lies – Sam Hawke
  • Empire of Sand (ARC) – Tasha Suri
  • Girls of Paper and Fire (ARC) – Natasha Ngan
  • The Book of M – Peng Shepherd
  • Game of the Gods – Jay Schiffman
  • Annex – Rich Larsson

A very good portion of these were books that I had already planned to buy and was waiting for them to release. My top favorite though has got to be the newest release in the Nyxia Triad, Nyxia Unleashed. This is one of my absolute favorite series and I’m so glad that I was able to get a copy when I got back from Camp.

July Reads:

  • Half-Blood Prince – J.K. Rowling
  • Annihilation (E-book) – Jeff VanderMeer
  • Mirage (ARC) – Somaiya Daud
  • The Darkest Minds – Alexandra Bracken
  • Never Fade – Alexandra Bracken
  • In the Afterlight – Alexandra Bracken
  • The Hunger Games (Audiobook) – Suzanne Collins

I was actually real surprised that I managed to stick to my TBR for the most part. I decided halfway through July that I should read The Darkest Minds series before the movie came out (and they were amazing). I also LOVED Mirage and I can’t wait for y’all to get it in your hands. It releases August 28th and follows a strong female lead who is kidnapped and forced to become the body double for a princess that is hated by her people. I loved the fact that Mirage was influenced by the Morrocan background of the author.

August TBR:

  • Sadie (ARC) – Courtney Summers
  • Illuminae – Aime Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
  • Gemina – Aime Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
  • Obsidio – Aime Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
